Dr. Adolphe has published more than 12 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and received over 20 awards and scholarships throughout her career
Dr. Jennifer Adolphe has been announced as one of 2019’s Women of Influence by Pet Age Magazine, a business-to-business media brand that has covered the pet industry in print, online and through social media and events, for more than 45 years. Dr. Adolphe was selected by the judging panel as one of the pet industry’s most remarkable and influential women leaders, with a proven history of integrity and track record of accomplishments. The Women of Influence award recipients will be recognized and profiled in the March issue of Pet Age. In 2017, Dr. Adolphe was also included in Pet Age’s 40 Under 40.
As a registered dietitian with a PhD in companion animal nutrition, M.Sc. in human nutrition, and six years’ experience working in research and development within the pet food industry, Dr. Adolphe carefully crafts the product formulation of each Petcurean recipe. Whether it be kibble, treats, or wet food, Dr. Adolphe’s in-depth technical knowledge enables her to formulate highly specialized pet food diets, including limited ingredient and vegan recipes.
Over the last year, Dr. Adolphe worked with her team to reposition Petcurean’s entire GO! SOLUTIONS™ line for dogs and cats, with recipes created especially for pets who are fussy about their food, who need a grain-free or higher protein diet, and for those requiring a recipe with unique proteins, or a limited number of ingredients. GO! SOLUTIONS™ are complete, nutrient-packed foods with zero added growth hormones, by-products, or artificial preservatives. Dr. Adolphe also formulated GATHER™ for dogs and cats, which are sustainably produced and feature certified and organic ingredients, including single-source proteins, that are perfectly blended and balanced to provide dogs and cat with premium quality nutrition.
“We are incredibly proud that Dr. Jennifer Adolphe has been named as one of Pet Age Magazine’s2019 Women of Influence – this is such a well-deserved acknowledgement of her dedication, commitment and industry-leading expertise,” explains Shelly Hein, VP Operations, “Petcurean is extremely selective about the ingredients we use, unwavering in our standards for high-quality and committed to environmental sustainability. However, the ability to stay true to these values comes down to the actual pet food we produce, which why Jennifer’s expertise is so critical to our success.”
Dr. Adolphe joined Petcurean in 2014 as the company’s Senior Nutritionist and was promoted to Nutrition Manager in 2018. She heads the company’s Nutrition Team, working closely with nutritionists, R&D scientists, and quality assurance experts involved in the production of all Petcurean recipes. Over the course of her career, Dr. Adolphe has received over 20 awards and scholarships for her academic work and has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed scientific publications. On top of her scientific and nutritional accolades, Dr. Adolphe collaborates with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and marketing by translating nutrition research into consumer-friendly materials.
Dr. Adolphe is also a highly sought-after media spokesperson and scientific expert for Petcurean, with regular interview requests from outlets that include the CBC, Readers Digest, Global News, Corus Radio, Maclean’s and, of course, Pet Age. These appearances enable Dr. Adolphe to share up-to-date information that help consumers understand the science behind the foods they purchase, and ensure they choose recipes that meet each pet’s different dietary requirements.
Dr. Adolphe also demonstrates her commitment to pets by initiating a research and mentorship program for future generations. Together with Petcurean, she established a research program in partnership with researchers at the University of Guelph and the University of Manitoba. This research received funding from the National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and will result in two students completing a Master of Science degree. Both of these students have continued to a PhD program, one of which is also funded through a partnership grant between Petcurean and NSERC. Both students also received funding from the MITACS Accelerate program for their Masters’ work. This program provides salary funding for graduate students through an industrial partnership. Petcurean supports these successful scholarship programs.
