Best Buddies International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting friendship and development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is thrilled to unveil the inaugural 2023 Best Buddies Breakaway Camp: Malibu Ladies’ Edition. This exclusive four-day cycling adventure is designed specifically for women.
Led by esteemed athletes Leanda Cave, a four-time Triathlon World Champion, and Mari Holden, a Cycling Olympian, the camp will provide expert coaching on mountainous terrains, training methods, recovery techniques, nutrition, and bike handling skills. Leanda Cave’s impressive accolades, including being recognized as one of the “10 Fittest Women in the World,” make her an invaluable coach and mentor. Mari Holden, a celebrated cycling icon and World Champion, brings her wealth of experience and Olympic representation to the USA.
Leanda Cave expressed her excitement, saying, “Cycling has always brought me joy and happiness throughout my 32-year journey. It’s an empowering sport where I feel in control, with my body as the machine and the bike as my companion. I can’t wait to ride in the Santa Monica Mountains, surrounded by peaceful nature and breathtaking coastal views.”
Mari Holden added, “I am truly honored to co-lead this camp with Leanda. Her accomplishments are truly admirable, and together, we will provide valuable insights to enhance fitness, cycling skills, and safety in a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere. The camp’s location is extraordinary, and the roads we’ll ride on are some of my personal favorites in the country. It will undoubtedly be an unforgettable cycling adventure.”
