“What an absolute beast! The Lamborghini Huracán Performante is our Best Driver’s Car because it delivers the most exhilarating driving experience available on four wheels,” says MOTOR TREND Editor-in-Chief Ed Loh. “We’ve never witnessed such a potent combination of aggression, control, confidence, and pure speed from Sant’Agata before. Bravo Lamborghini!”
MOTOR TREND’s 2018 Best Driver’s Car program hosted a dozen cars from 12 automakers to test contenders’ driving abilities at two distinct venues in California. A multi-terrain evaluation was held on a secluded path along Route 198 in the sun-bleached hills of central California, while the limit handling and hot lap test, conducted by championship-winning race car driver Randy Pobst, was at the legendary WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
With 640 horsepower and the ability to reach to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, the Huracán Performante performed one of the fastest laps at the Laguna Seca track, landing in third place. However, Lamborghini’s outstanding performance on Route 198 secured the overall win. In an everyday driving experience, the Huracán Performante proved to be a car that anyone can enjoy.
“We are proud to receive such a notable recognition as ‘Best Driver’s Car’ by MOTOR TREND, one of the leading authorities in the world of automotive publishing,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “The essence of the Huracán Performante is about the ultimate road and track experience it gives to the person behind the wheel. The accolade confirms that Lamborghini’s mission to create the pinnacle of driving emotion is a commitment we always pursue with passion. Thanks to the talent of our R&D and design teams, Lamborghini was able to push the limits of engineering to all-new levels, especially with the introduction of Lamborghini’s patented new active aerodynamic system, ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva), allowing the Huracán Performante to break new ground and affirm its track talent.”
