Brancott Estate Backing Emirates Team New Zealand for the 36th America’s Cup

MARLBOROUGH, New Zealand, Aug. 28, 2018

Brancott Estate and Emirates Team New Zealand have announced a partnership for the 36th America’s Cup, with Brancott Estate signing a three-year agreement to be the official wine supplier to the team until the end of the final race in 2021.

The collaboration is rooted in their shared values. Both Brancott Estate and Emirates Teams New Zealand have a bold ambition and strong self -belief in the power of New Zealand talent, ingenuity and teamwork, and harness a uniquely kiwi attitude to achieve their global ambitions.

“As a brand who looks to do things differently and embraces forward-thinking, we see a strong link between ourselves and Emirates Team New Zealand,” says Patrick Materman, Brancott Estate Chief Winemaker.

“Brancott Estate cultivated a region considered too cold for grapes, planting Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes in Marlborough and establishing a wine region that is recognised across the globe. Its history of ingenuity, innovation and sustainability has seen us grow to be one of New Zealand’sleading wine brands,” continues Patrick.

In a similar vein, Emirates Team New Zealand had its beginnings in the New Zealand Challenge team which contested the 1987 America’s Cup event in Fremantle, Western Australia. In an event dominated by technology and money, New Zealand punches well above its weight. The team has achieved victory on the world stage no less than three times, and in 2021 will defend their status as America’s Cup holders.

“Emirates Team New Zealand are delighted to have Brancott Estate as exclusive supplier to the team for our 36th America’s Cup campaign”, said Emirates Team New Zealand COO, Kevin Shoebridge.

“We will be welcoming guests from around the world to New Zealand in 2021 and Brancott Estate will be right alongside us rolling out the welcome mat, putting on world renowned kiwi hospitality and sharing the finest taste of New Zealand with them all as we utilise their support and strive to defend the America’s Cup.”

With total belief and pride that New Zealand can take on the world, Brancott Estate will be looking for ways to enable fans to celebrate New Zealand’s champion team and the exciting milestones throughout the journey via its product range in on- and off-premise outlets all over the world, with a focus on the final challenge events in Auckland in 2021.

About Brancott Estate

Since planting the first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in 1975, Brancott Estate (previously known as Montana) has continued to craft striking wines to suit every occasion, including naturally lower alcohol, sparkling, organic, oak-infused and age-worthy expressions of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. In addition, they have led the revival of Sauvignon Gris, a rare varietal now enjoying a global resurgence.

Brancott Estate has been looking to the future since their beginning, advocating sustainability across all aspects of their winemaking, and helping found sustainable winemaking in New Zealand. This programme has since transformed into Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ). All vineyards and wineries are accredited under the scheme.
