Lucky Energy Partners with NBA Star Naz Reid for “Naz Isn’t Lucky” Campaign
Lucky Energy, the cleaner, better-for-you energy drink known for its refreshing flavors and health-conscious ingredients, has announced its partnership with NBA 2024 Sixth Man of the Year and Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid. The collaboration kicks off with the release of the brand’s new campaign video, “Naz Isn’t Lucky,” which showcases Reid’s inspiring journey and unstoppable work ethic.
The partnership includes an OOH (out-of-home) campaign in Minnesota, name-image-likeness (NIL) activations for point-of-sale materials, social media promotions, and more.
“Naz Isn’t Lucky” Campaign Highlights
The video features a child’s voice asking, “Tell me about Naz Reid,” followed by powerful footage of Reid dominating the court. Key moments highlight his tenacity:
- “Naz is a beast” (as he delivers a massive dunk).
- “Naz doesn’t care about your offense” (blocking an opponent’s shot).
- “You can call him Naz; just don’t call him lucky” (scoring a fadeaway while falling to the floor).
The ad concludes with Reid holding a can of Lucky Energy, stating: “Luck isn’t given; it’s created. Keep going with Lucky Energy.”
The campaign was developed in-house with photography by basketball icon Cassy Athena, whose resilience in overcoming a brain tumor mirrors the brand’s ethos of perseverance.
Naz Reid’s Take on the Partnership
“There were doubts when I came in as an undrafted player, but I always believed in my potential. Through hard work and never giving up, I’ve made it this far,” said Reid. “I’m excited to partner with Lucky Energy to fuel athletes who are chasing their dreams.”
A Perfect Fit for Lucky Energy
“Naz embodies everything Lucky Energy stands for,” said Richard Laver, Founder and CEO of Lucky Energy. “He faced challenges and overcame them through discipline and grit, proving that luck is something you create for yourself. We’re honored to have him as our first headline athlete.”
Lucky Energy’s Vision
Lucky Energy is redefining the energy drink market by offering clean, performance-focused beverages. With natural flavors, zero sugar, and only 5 calories, the drinks are designed to optimize performance without compromising health.
The brand first stepped into the sports world during the 2024 U.S. Open Semi-Finals, where coaches of players Jessica Pegula and Frances Tiafoe sported Lucky Energy T-shirts courtside.
“As we expand into new markets, partnering with athletes like Naz, who truly embody our brand’s message, is crucial,” said Hamid Saify, CMO of Lucky Energy.
The Inspiring Story Behind Lucky Energy
Richard Laver founded Lucky Energy after a lifetime of challenges and triumphs. A survivor of the tragic Delta 191 flight, Laver overcame personal struggles, including homelessness, and later founded Kate Farms, now the top plant-based tube-feeding formula in the U.S., to save his daughter’s life. Lucky Energy is his latest venture, created to inspire people to persevere and “keep going” with better-for-you products.
