Alliance University participated in the National Conference of Vice-Chancellors and Directors organized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission in New Delhi which took place between July 26 and 28, 2018.
The conference was chaired by Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister for HRD where he emphasized the need of Research and Innovation for sustainable prosperity of India. The Hon’ble Minister also shared his vision of creating the ‘New India where Universities would be the hub of innovation’. He later opened the session to the delegates present from Central, State, Private and Deemed to be Universities along with Institutes of National Importance for suggestions.
Dr. Anubha Singh represented Alliance University where she stated that creation of a research-focused culture in the higher education system is possible when resources such as quality journals, anti-plagiarism and various other schemes and resources be made available to all institutes of higher education. Dr. Anubha also suggested that corporate should be encouraged to set up innovation labs on premises of Indian institutes of higher education that would fuel growth on industry-relevant research. The aim of such initiatives would be to make Indian higher education institutes from knowledge dissemination centres to knowledge creation centres.
Shri Javadekar acknowledged the inputs shared by Dr. Anubha and announced that access to resource material for quality research and anti-plagiarism tools would be extended to private and deemed universities as well.
The conference also elicited views on research funding and importance of multi-disciplinary research.
