J.Qork: India’s First Campus-Born Sustainable Lifestyle Brand Launched by Woxsen University Students

In a pioneering initiative that blends education with innovation, students from Woxsen University have launched J.Qork, India’s first campus-born sustainable lifestyle brand. Designed with a deep commitment to the planet and ethical luxury, J.Qork is the result of the Capstone Launchpad Project—an alternative to traditional summer internships, conducted in May–June 2023.

J.Qork represents a shift from learning about brands to creating one. Every step—from ideation and design to branding and market launch—was led by Product Design (2020–2024) students, with mentorship from Woxsen faculty.

“Being part of this capstone journey as an industrial designer was thrilling,” shared Haritha. “It transformed challenges into a cohesive brand, blending creativity and strategic thinking.”

Fellow students Asit and Jinoodhaya echoed the sentiment:

“This project offered a rare opportunity to understand the foundations of building a brand,” said Asit.
“It sharpened my design skills and sparked the fire of entrepreneurship,” added Jinoodhaya.

J.Qork is built around cork—a biodegradable, renewable material ethically sourced from Portugal and handcrafted in India. Offering a vegan, cruelty-free, and luxurious alternative to leather, the products are PETA-certified and consciously designed for the modern, mindful consumer.

“This was my first exposure to merging business and design,” said Dev.
Soham noted, “The experience strengthened my passion for finding novel design solutions.”

  • ARBOR – A sleek men’s cork wallet with a classic look and water-resistant finish.

  • SAIBA – A lightweight and colorful women’s wallet perfect for everyday use.

  • SAANJH – A sustainable evening bag that blends charm and conscious craftsmanship.

“From naming the brand to launching it, students experienced the complete product development journey,” shared faculty mentor Mr. Mrudul.

Following its successful campus launch, J.Qork will debut in the U.S. market later this year, bringing student-led, sustainable innovation to the global stage. The collection is now available for pre-order at Design Vanguard Season 2, Woxsen University’s platform that nurtures interdisciplinary and socially impactful design.

Through my studies, I've also obtained many naturopathic and nutrition degrees as well. Part-time jobs have added marketing, network marketing, event management, and store management skills to my experience throughout my career.
