100 Years Young. Fueled by Plants. Powered by Purpose.
At vegnew.world, we live for stories of resilience, transformation, and the healing power of conscious living. You don’t need to be a professional athlete to inspire a generation — sometimes, all it takes is grit, good food, and a mindset that refuses to quit.
Let us introduce you to Mike Fremont — a 100+ year-old runner(today 103), cancer survivor, and a living testament to the power of a plant-based lifestyle.
🧠 The Turning Point: A Diagnosis at 69
At the age of 69, Mike was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and told he had just three months to live if he didn’t undergo surgery. Instead, Mike made a radical choice: he switched to a strict whole-food, plant-based diet — and he believes that choice saved his life.
“No question in my mind, it is diet that has determined my existence, my continued existence, and my beautiful health.”
— Mike Fremont, as quoted by Rich Roll
In 1994, he did eventually have the remaining tumor surgically removed, but decades later, Mike is still alive, active, and thriving. He attributes his vitality not to medical interventions, but to plants, purpose, and perseverance.
🏃♂️ From Cancer to Champion
Mike didn’t even consider himself a competitive runner until his late 80s. At 91, he began setting world records for fastest marathons and half marathons in his age group. At 100, he’s still running, doing 10 pull-ups, and walking 5 miles with friends like Harvey Lewis, who shared:
“Mike fell this spring and hurt his hip. He was in a wheelchair for a month. But he came back. He credits his plant-based nutrition for helping him recover faster than expected — even at 100.”
🥦 The Fremont Diet
Mike’s longevity secret isn’t really a secret. His diet includes:
✔️ Fresh vegetables and fruits
✔️ Whole grains and legumes
✔️ Nuts and soups
❌ No meat, dairy, or processed toxins
As highlighted in Runner’s World, Mike’s routine is rooted in balance, simplicity, and nature, not gimmicks or shortcuts.
💬 “These are the best years of my life.”
While many believe aging means slowing down, Mike believes the opposite: if you care for your body, it will carry you further than you imagined. He says his 90s and 100s have been his most fulfilling years yet.
It’s not just about fitness — it’s about choosing vibrancy over survival, clarity over decline, and plants over pills.
At vegnew.world, we share stories like Mike’s not just to inspire, but to educate and empower. We believe aging can be redefined through food, movement, and mindset. And Mike Fremont is living proof.
Mike Fremont is aged 103 today.
Mike Fremont is still running at 103 years old. While he no longer participates in marathons, he continues to run shorter distances, such as 5K races, and maintains a routine of running five miles three times a week. He also stays active through canoeing and daily pull-ups.
In a recent interview at 102, Fremont expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to run, stating, “I want to be king of the 103-year-olds!”
We wish him a LONG, HEALTHY LIFE!
