Taiwan Tourism Administration Hosts ‘Muslim Experience Day’ to Enhance Muslim-Friendly Travel Opportunities

Discover Taiwan: A Vegan-Friendly and Inclusive Destination for Muslim Travelers

To further establish Taiwan as a welcoming destination for diverse cultures, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (T.T.A) organized the inspiring “Muslim Experience Day” last year. Curated by the T.T.A Kuala Lumpur Office, the event invited Muslim students and influencers in Taiwan to experience the island’s rich culture and attractions tailored to Muslim travelers.

This one-day journey offered two carefully crafted routes highlighting the charm of Taiwan’s Central and Northern regions.

Central Taiwan: A Blend of Culture and Cuisine
Participants in Central Taiwan explored Dajia, renowned for its taro, where they attended a hands-on taro pastry-making workshop led by Master A-Tsung. They created delicate pastries with intricate layers, showcasing Taiwan’s culinary artistry.

Lunch was enjoyed at Noodles Origin, a certified Muslim-Friendly restaurant offering halal noodle dishes crafted with over 80 years of expertise. The adventure continued in Miaoli, where participants rode the Old Mountain Line Rail Bike. This scenic journey featured the enchanting Light and Shadow Tunnel, a historic iron bridge, and the remains of Longteng Bridge. Stunning views and flavorful cuisine left participants captivated.

Northern Taiwan: Sustainability and Flavor in Yilan
In northern Taiwan, visitors explored the AGRIOZ Museum, Taiwan’s first preserved fruit tourism factory. They also discovered Yilan’s iconic oval kumquat preserves and traditional production methods.

Lunch was a feast of innovative vegan dishes at Sun Hope Vegan Restaurant, emphasizing sustainable and plant-based dining. The afternoon unfolded at Sinbow Leisure Farm, where participants picked fresh green onions and crafted their crispy, flavorful Sanshing Green Onion Pies. The farm also featured interactive moments with adorable animals, adding a playful touch to the experience.

A Commitment to Inclusivity
T.T.A. ensured that all activities respected Muslim participants’ dietary and religious practices. Every meal was halal-certified, and the itinerary provided cultural exchange and social media engagement opportunities. Participants shared their experiences, amplifying Taiwan’s image as a Muslim-friendly destination.

Building Bridges Through Tourism
The “Muslim Experience Day” encouraged participants to become ambassadors for Taiwan’s unique blend of culture, diversity, and inclusivity. Sharing their experiences online helped solidify Taiwan’s reputation as a welcoming haven for all.
